Boeing Stearman Fly-In, Oostwold, May 31

At Whitsun I was visiting Oostwold airport for my first time. My main goal was the Oostwold Airshow (see link at the bottom of this page for the Oostwold Airshow Album) but the Stearman Fly-in was a fantastic excuse to visit Oostwold two days.
21 Stearmans signed in for the Fly-in according to the website but when I arrived at midday there were only 4 Stearmans present on the ground. One was circling around the airport. I was surprised by the amount of airshow participants present at the airport.

One of the airport personnel granted me acces to the parking area. This allowed me to take good pictures of all the aircraft from different positions.

More and more airshow participants arrived and almost all were in need for fuel. Also more Stearmans arrived. One of the airport personnel told me 15 Stearmans were expected. At the end of the day there were less then 10 Stearmans at the airport. Later that day and in the very early morning after a few more arrived and I counted 13 Stearmans. A great number! But when I arrived that Sunday I was hoping to see 10-15 Searmans in a row. I was also expecting a bit more Stearman Flying action. For me as a visitor the Stearman Fly-in atmosphere wasn't there. I think maybe it had something to do with the airshow preparations. Nevertheless the weather was very good and a great variety of aircraft could be seen!
